Skillbox Mobile App

An app designed to enable students with busy schedules to watch courses at a time and place convenient for them. Twenty courses were made available for free viewing. On this project, I was responsible for the logic, UX, and structure, as well as leading and organizing design process with our team.

My responsibilities

  • facilitate a discovery process, determining features and steps of the apps funnels together with PM and CPO

  • to build a logic and structure of the app, develop UI based on visual identity

  • to manage the work of a second designer, directing the workflow and monitoring timelines

  • after release, to support further development and integrate the app in new emerging ecosystem and design system

Outcomes

  • After the app was released, both paid traffic and organic traffic from app stores were attracted.

  • The app has a MAU of around 100k users per month. Thanks to the availability of free video lessons, most users returned to the app repeatedly, with a DAU/MAU rate of 0.23.

  • The average depth of course viewing was 47%. The leads that reached the sales team were already more warmed up, and the conversion rate to calls with sales reached 15.2%.

  • The project was deemed successful with a positive ROI above 100%.

In the world of IT anyone can themself a profession

This is an ideology of Skillbox company: to help people find a new profession. And digital world is so vast that anyone do that. However, it can be very challenging for newcomers to understand the available career paths and decide which one to pursue.

Skillbox offers more than 500 different careers across 10 career paths. That's a lot. To help people choose their path, we've selected the most essential ones and provided open access to them for a limited time in our mobile app.

An app to try different careers for free

Once registered, users have access to the entire set of courses. Each course can be watched for up to 15 days.

Skillbox courses are entirely video-based, so we focused on making video viewing as convenient as possible to showcase the product in the best light.

Business: course promotion and a sales funnel

From a business perspective, the app's goal is to create an additional sales funnel by attracting traffic from app stores and banner ads on social networks. Free access to the courses serves promote the courses, to engage leads, and convince them to purchase the full product.
